Edinburgh College nurtures musical talent through performances, collaborations with industry partners, band tours, and workshops with professionals. These opportunities empower students to showcase their skills and advance their musical careers within a vibrant community of musicians.
The Edinburgh College Band program runs through from Year 5 to Year 8 with every student learning a wind instrument such as flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone and saxophone. Band students have the opportunity to perform in chapel, in on-campus concerts such as the Edinburgh Tattoo and at other local public events. The Senior Concert band invites the best students from Years 7 through to 12 to participate, and tours abroad to overseas and interstate destinations (read about the latest Band Tour here.
Over the last two years, the Edinburgh College Band performed at over a dozen local schools locally, to the delight of all who enjoyed the performances. Next year sees the band program involved in eisteddfods and competitions locally as well as a Music Camp, held at Mill Valley Ranch.
Band students are also invited to perform in the School Production, where supporting the actors on stage is always a highlight of the year.
In addition to the Edinburgh College band, individual year levels facilitate Class Bands. These bands perform and College events throughout the year.
Students are encouraged to participate and lead in the weekly Chapel music program. The Chapel band in the past has also lead worship at the Adventist Schools Victoria Combined Schools Day of Worship, along with sister schools, Nunawading Christian College, Heritage College and Gilson College.
