We strive to provide an environment where each child feels valued and belongs. Our program aims to develop the whole child with a particular focus on each child’s social/emotional development. These important years in a child’s life will be celebrated and our program aims to foster a lifelong love and curiosity of learning.
We are intentional with everything that we do. Our play-based program is guided by children's emerging interests and combines child-initiated activities, observed needs, and intentional teaching. The children are taught that they are unique, loved and part of God’s Family.
In order to foster interest and engage the children in being a part of a wider community, our program includes many specialist activities. We are blessed to be a part of a wider community at Edinburgh Early Learning Centre. We have access to both the primary and secondary school facilities and regularly use the primary playground, basketball court, oval, gym, library and bush kinder site. This allows the children to be introduced to what it means to be part of a broader school community, thus facilitating a smooth transition to school.
Bush kinder
At Edinburgh Early Learning, we are proud to have a specialised Bush Kinder program for all our early learners. Our bush kinder sessions are conducted on our larger campus bushland – rain or shine.
We want to give our children a chance to spend quality time outdoors. We believe that spontaneous play experiences in a natural environment are one of the most valued educational opportunities we can give our children.
Children are natural learners. Bush Kinder will provide your child with what nature has provided as learning materials. They will have the opportunity to play in the rain, roll down grassy mounds, balance along fallen logs, engage in dramatic play, find insects, and draw with sticks in the ground. The opportunities for children to construct their own learning are endless.
Buddies
Our ELC children build meaningful connections with the upper primary students, creating a supportive and nurturing cross-school environment.
Library
Children enjoy regular library visits to explore books, engage with stories and become familiar with our school's rich literary environment.
Chapel
Our 4-year-old kindergarten children attend chapel with the lower primary on a weekly basis and also take part in our Week of Worship.
Incursions and excursions
Guided by children's interests, our enrichment program includes engaging incursions on bees, butterflies, dental health and science. Excursions to places like ADRA, community gardens, and aged care facilities encourage curiosity and connection with the broader world.
Social and Emotional development
Social and emotional development is crucial in laying the foundation for how children understand themselves, relate to others, and manage their emotions. It influences a child’s ability to form healthy relationships, communicate effectively, and cope with challenges. Developing these skills early in life supports long term mental well-being and positive behavior, while also helping individuals navigate complex social environments with empathy, resilience, and confidence.
Early Encounters
We use the Early Encounters program to teach Bible stories and foster in each child an understanding of the values taught by Jesus, such as loving and serving others.
Language (Chinese)
We offer Chinese lessons to enhance children's cognitive development, improving problem-solving, memory, and creativity while fostering cultural awareness and empathy.
Wider Campus
We are blessed to be a part of a wider community at Edinburgh Early Learning Centre. We have access to both the primary and secondary school facilities and regularly use the primary playground, basketball court, oval, gym, library and bush kinder site.
